AIFO Liberia is hosting Simona Venturoli, Desk Officer of AIFO Italy for one-week as part of coordination mechanism to improve projects coordination and administration in Liberia. Simona arrived in Liberia on March 9, 2022. During her stay in Liberia, she will meet with AIFO’s Donors including, the European Union in Liberia, Swedish Embassy in Monrovia and other potential donors. Simona will also meet with other stakeholders including local authorities in Nimba County, project beneficiaries and partners of AIFO Liberia. During these meetings, she will present the vision and core values of AIFO global.
As part of her visit, she will also market the vision of AIFO to potential donors for funds that will support the empowerment of persons living with disabilities in Liberia. One of the very first engagements of Simona was a general staff meeting that was held at AIFO-Liberia central office in Monrovia.
During the meeting with staff, Simona expressed her satisfaction for the level of improvement AIFO Liberia has had since her last visit to Liberia in 2017. She expressed gratitude to the government of Liberia for the smooth partnership through the Ministry of Gender, Children & Social Protection, the Ministry of Health, INCHR, Ministry of Labor among others.
At the same time, the AIFO Italy Desk Officer has expressed sorrow and extended deepest sympathy on behalf of AIFO headquarters in Italy to the disabled community in Liberia and the family of the Late Naomi Harris who passed away on February 25, 2022 as a result of brief period of illness. Simona recalled that Naomi was a committed advocate who always flagged the issues of persons with disabilities, particularly the participation of women with disabilities. She stated that the passing of Naomi is a great loss to AIFO.
